This study was to<br>explore the correlation between student engagement in English learning and their<br>English achievement, the correlation between motivation in English learning and<br>English achievement analyzed by Pearson correlation. The 90 eleventh grade<br>students, Social 1 and 2, Science 1, 2 and 3 were the respondents. Convenience<br>sampling method was utilized in collecting the data, and the findings revealed that<br>eleventh grade student engagement in English learning was low, their motivation<br>in English learning was high, and their English achievement was high. There was<br>no significant correlation between student engagement in English learning and their<br>achievement; however, there was a significant correlation between eleventh grade<br>student motivation in English learning and English achievement. Therefore,<br>English teachers are to motivate their students by presenting interesting and<br>challenging English lessons that allow students to engage in English learning in<br>order for them to improve their English achievement, students need to aware the<br>importance of boosting themselves in English learning, so they can engage in every<br>activity in English learning. </p>}, number={1}, journal={Abstract Proceedings International Scholars Conference}, author={Sualang, Lely}, year={2018}, month={Oct.}, pages={286} }
