The main purpose of the study is to identify the relationship between interest and motivation to be a nurse on learning achievement in the subject of Fundamentals of Nursing Practice I of nursing student in Klabat University. The method used was observational analytic correlational design with cross sectional approach. Total sampling technique was implemented with the respondent amounted to 105 students. There is significant relationship between student’s interest to their achievements (p = .000) and weak correlation (r =
.376). There is significant relationship between student’s motivation to their achievements (p=.002), with weak correlation (r=.299). The relationship between student’s interest and motivation to their achievements showed a weak correlation (R=.381), where their simultan contribution to the achievement showed 14.5%, while 85.4% is determined by other variables. There is significant different of student’s interest to their achievements in terms of gender (p=0.045), where interest in female respondents (r=.448) is higher than male respondents (r=-.039). There is no significant different of student’s motivation to their achievements in terms of gender (p=.849), where motivation in female respondents (r=.284) is similar to the male respondents (r=.237). Recommendations for educational institutions to be more attention to the interest and motivation elements in the selection of students in order to improve the quality of students by providing additional information about nursing life and career.
