Abstract

The growing of virtual machine technology continues to evolve characterized by the emergence of a number of  virtual machine applications ranging from free to pay to acquired. These applications are VMWare, VirtualBox, Windows Azure and other virtualization applications. The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative  analysis of performance for virtualization technology in order to know where the most optimal technology to use for the web server and FTP server. The method that used in this research is Network Design and Implementation Cycle. Through this study, the authors tested using five operating systems, which are Windows server 2012, Windows server 2008, Oracle Linux, CentOS and Ubuntu server then installed in each of the virtual machine and then will be seen which virtual machine is better. The results of this study indicate where the best virtual machine for each operating system and vice versa where the best operating system for each virtual machine at the time of testing web server and FTP server.
